Job Description – Energy Manager/Engineer

Position Background. The Energy Manager/Engineer will serve as an energy partner, directly to clients. They will manage project documentation, complete complex energy savings calculations, serve as an expert on utility incentive programs, and present technical details in a concise and organized fashion for our clients to approve capital projects.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Visit project sites to evaluate equipment, identify energy conservation measures, and develop projects.
  2. Design energy projects such as heat recovery measures, electrification and heat pump retrofits, lighting upgrades, EV charging, and complete heating plant replacements.
  3. Manage detailed coordination of project conceptualization, design & sizing, budgeting, etc. with manufacturers, distributors, and contractors.
  4. Complete engineering calculations of energy and carbon emissions (Local Law 97) savings and build financial models to define return on investment.
  5. Incorporate utility incentives to work products; C&I Program and Multifamily Energy Efficiency Program. Compile, submit, and manage utility application packages.
  6. Present project proposals to building owners.
  7. Contribute toward the continued development of tools, templates, and resources.


Experience Requirements:

  • Experience in Energy (Mechanical and/or Electrical) Engineering, Project Management, building equipment, equipment commissioning, capital project planning, and/or equipment retrofit principles.
  • Knowledge of Local Law 97, utility incentive programs, and decarbonization pathways.
  • Proven experience working with vendors/contractors and managing contractors.
  • Knowledge of construction codes and principles a plus.


Skills Requirements:

  • Must be detail-oriented, organized, and produce consistent high-quality work.
  • College degree and/or demonstrated experience completing Energy Engineering projects.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and spoken).
  • Skilled in using Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Ability to work across a cross-functional team with differing directives and varying priorities.
